Highland Cinema is proud to bring the big screen experience back to Lochaber, in a purpose built cinema that combines cutting-edge technology with a beautiful traditional style Highland building.

In addition to showing blockbusters the same day they’re released in Leicester Square, we are a destination for so much more, from classics, indie and arthouse films, to Event Cinema (opera, ballet, plays and music), plus live music and events in our cosy restaurant & bar.

Our building has been designed as a twist on a traditional highland property, with a red corrugated roof and stone walls. The red stone of the walls is from Glen Nevis, the slate from Ballachulish and the grey stone from an old sheep fank on Blarour Farm. The front entrance facing Cameron Square has been designed to reflect the red roof and stonework of a traditional bothy, the humble building that has welcomed and sheltered travellers across the Highlands for centuries.

The back of the building houses two state-of-the-art cinema theatres, with the latest in laser digital projection and sound systems, to deliver a thoroughly immersive audio-visual experience. Screen 1 has a capacity of 109, while Screen 2 can take up to 62 guests, providing the flexibility to show a wide range of films to appeal to all audiences.

Our restaurant & bar, seating 84, has a wood burning stove, cosy seating and a covered terrace overlooking the town square. Dry dogs are welcome in the restaurant and on the terrace. We offer a broad range of delicious food, ranging from coffee and pastries, to gourmet pizza, salads, charcuterie and much more.

Our bar has a great selection of local, unique and harder to get whiskies, Scottish gins and beers, plus cocktails, spirits and ore. We have a special relationship with Glen Spean Brewery, Ben Nevis Distillery and Moët Chandon champagne.

At Highland Cinema, our mission is to be a vibrant hub for film, creativity and excellence in Lochaber, providing a welcoming destination for locals and West Highlands visitors alike. Our aim is to offer a cutting-edge cinema experience and outstanding restaurant & bar in beautiful surroundings, full of Highland hospitality.

The intention is to bring a smile to people’s faces even on the wettest day, to be a gathering place for youngsters and the elderly alike and to provide a range of film choices that pleases and interests a broad spectrum of visitors.

The look of the building was specified by the owner Angus MacDonald, designed by Dualchas and built by 3b with an exceptional team of professionals, including Galbraith, David Narro, Harley Haddow, Andrew Robertshaw, Sandy Brown and Hamish Bell; and many others. A huge thanks to them all for their excellent work.

Thanks also to our two generous sponsors Mowi and Alvance, and sub sponsor BSW who donated timber as well as Glen Nevis Estate, Blarour Farming Co., Ivor and Grainne Dunbar, Michael Chisholm, Morar Motors, Morrisons Supermarket and all who all donated in one way or another to create this wonderful place. No public money was sought to fund the building of the Highland Cinema.
