New Yoti Digital Proof Of Age App Now Accepted At Highland Cinema

1 June 2022

Highland Cinema now accepts the Yoti digital proof of age app, allowing those who are over 12, 15 and 18 to quickly prove their age when coming to a film with those ratings.

Yoti is a Scottish government approved digital identity company based in the UK, that’s making it easier for people to prove who they are. They’re now recognised by the UK Cinema Association, and their proof of age app is accepted in almost every cinema in the UK, along with over 30,000 Post Offices, Payzone and convenience stores.

To activate a Yoti identity, simply download the free app and follow the instructions to set up a digital ID, by taking a selfie and scanning an existing ID document. After that, there’s no need to worry about finding or bringing a passport, birth certificate or Young Scot card when coming to a film!

Yoti protects data with high-level encryption and is trusted by regulators for adhering to the highest security standards. All data is safely stored and encrypted in the app, and only the user can unlock it. No one else can access the data – not even Yoti.

All cinemas are required by law to check the age of visitors when in doubt about their age matching the rating of the film they wish to see. If you cannot show your Yoti digital ID because your phone battery has run out, then a physical ID will still be required.

Highland Cinema retains the right to refuse admission to any individual or party in reasonable circumstances, including for reasons of health and safety, licensing laws, or aggressive or abusive behaviour of the customer to our staff or to other customers. We will refuse admission to those unable to verify their age if asked.

More information can be found on the Yoti website.
